Support!!In Reply To:comments to file of the world finals - continued Posted by:ava at 2005-12-07 10:40:21 > Prof. Hwang, (Prof. Poucher, please be patient to read the conversation between Prof. Hwang and me) > > I definitely DONOT think #8, #9 of Beijing site go to the World Finals is a joke. The top team from Tokyo(combat) ranked only #16 at Beijing site and the top team at Korea ranked #10 in Beijing. The contest should be a game of the majority instead of a game of one person. Before we play a game, we should have rules before the game NOT after the game!!! If we set the rules before the game, we will not complain even if we PKU can't be advanced to the world finals. I am feeling that I am cheated. I definitely CANNOT be happy just because we PKU is recommended to World Finals - that is not we pursue, we are working hard to make the contest a fun and fair game for the students all over the world. We surely don't hope that the contest is manipulated by a small number of persons. > > Those Asian countries who complained that too much Chinese teams awarded to the World Finals can work hard to improve themselves just like what we are doing. According to the rules, three sites in China earned 13.7 slots but right now we have only 9 teams recommended to the World Finals. Even we add two more teams from China, we still contribute 2.7 slots for other Asian countries. I don't think they have reason to complain. > > At last, the more teams attended, the more good teams are selected - it is a basic statistics problem. If a site has only 3 teams attended, are you going to tell me that the first three teams are all good? > > Wenxin Li > Beijing site director > > > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "ch01" <cjhwang@txstate.edu> > To: "C J Hwang" <cjhwang@txstate.edu>; "li wenxn" <lwx@ailab.pku.edu.cn> > Sent: Wednesday, December 07, 2005 3:41 AM > Subject: RE: Recommended Teams for Finals > > Followed by: Post your reply here: |
